Clinique is by far the best. a bit more expensive but WORTH every penny. if youre set on using cheaper brands, i prefer loreal.

Loreal is reaaaaaaaallly good. i haven't bought anything from covergirl or maybelline yet except for lip gloss. the wetslicks are non sticky but some of their older lip tints are super sticky.
i usually buy a dove wash, shiseido toner, and clinique moisturizer. i have a lancome liner and mascara. lol i use all different brands

Depending if you need it just for eye area, Lancome and Kiehls are both very good for removing eye makeup.

MAC is definitely a lot more expensive than revlon and loreal, but the quality is actually better. their products stay on longer and have more vibrant color that wont wear off. but if youre on a budget, revlon and loreal are still pretty good quality, just not as good as MAC. it just depends how much money you're willing to spend on makeup. :]

They work for some people but they dont work on my skin. i suggest you try and get samples of each so you can decide for yourself. everyones skin reacts differently to different makeups. i love mary kay too. eyeliner stays put.

you have to peel the little thing covering the holes then put the cap back on and shake it up a bit to get the powder loosend, after that put your brush in and tap off the extra, a little of that goes a long wayI can't open my Loreal Bare Natural (Mineral Makeup)?

umm i don't know if it will work for you, but take off the little plastic thing with holes in it that goes over the powder and then just peel the studd that encloses the powder

I think that's why they claim it looks so natural, since no-one can take the top off. I had the same trouble once with some strength pills the doctor gave me.

umm i don't know if it will work for you, but take off the little plastic thing with holes in it that goes over the powder and then just peel the studd that encloses the powder

Ive found perfect shadow, lipstick, foundation by various brand like loreal, maybelline, almay, i notice its gets discontinued maybe after some years, then im at a loss and so frustrated on what to buy next

Why arent any of the drugstore brand makeup (like loreal, cover girl,)available in darker shades in Canada..?
I have checked their USA sites and all of them have shades even for darker skin tones. But I have never seen these shades in Canadian drugstores. Like the CG Queen collection is unavailable in Canada.
I have also noticed that Loreal hardly ever has foundation or powder darker than a tan.
What could be the reason??

i don't think theyre geared towards that kind of consumer. plus more pigmentation = more $$. theres a greatbrand of cosmetics for women of color called VASANTI. its now sold in Shoppers Drug Marts. natural looking face makeup for women with pigmentation in their skin. I'm not sure baout this but i THINK bobbi brown also carries great products for women of color.
i have brown skin but i'm like medium-tan...so i used to use L'Oreal's foundation in Classic Tan but I've found that I prefer MAC. In fact, I just changed the type of foundation I use and for a powder it has AMAZING coverage (Studio Fix). I have alot of acne scars and it covers very well.
I really advise you into looking into other brands of foundation. esp at a store like Sephora or MAC or at dept store booths. This is something that youre applying all over your skin (daily for most women) and you've got to ensure the products youre using on your skin won't hurt it. You don't want to look 40 when youre 30 etc. Unfourtunately they have yet to make great drugstore brands without bismuth. Drugstore based foundations all contain bismuth which is like a chalky substance and will make your face look like a mask of makeup.
Try going to every booth/store etc. youre interested in, ask them to match a color for you...and to apply it all over your face. youre not required to buy it. wear it for the whole day, see how you like it. keep going to diff stores and doing that. I'm not familiar with other stores but MAC's return policy is AMAZING! you can try anything they have for upto 30 days and return it as long as youve kept thebox %26amp; reciept. so you can take advantage of that and try out different foundations for a few wks and see how your skin responds to it.
More companies really do need to diversify their colors to compliment darker skin tones. I'm assuming it's just cheaper to make the lighter colors. Maybe theyre JUST realizing it and thats why theyve come out with the Queen collection. maybe if it does well in the States they will bring it to canada. they ususally do that...bring it to the states THEN canadahome theater

The True Match makeup is a pretty good foundation. It is very easy to find a matching color since they have a wide range of colors and have warm, cool and neutral shades. Once you find the right shade it looks very natural and you can layer it for more coverage if necessary. The good part of buying it is that most of stores that stock it like Walgreens and Rite Aid will let you return it if the color is not right. Also, check for sales and you can get it cheaper or get the matching powder for free.
It lasts as well as any regular liquid foundation. You may need a primer if you want it to last longer than 8 hours though or if you sweat.

Many other makeup products that you buy at the drugstore or online include parabens (which may cause cancer), allergens, or fillers (like talc), which really defeat most of the purpose of mineral makup, but Everyday Minerals contains none of these. I really noticed a positive improvement in my skin when I switched to all-natural!

I've been interested in trying mineral makeup myself. You should check out makupalley.com for make-up reviews. If I remember correctly Loreal minerals had some of the worst reviews.
Since I've started using mineral make up, I won't ever go back to cream/liquid foundations. BareEcent. is the the BEST. I have also used Loreal--which wasn't so good...it's too heavy and you feel like you have a mask on. Physicians Formula mineral foundation is a good alternative...it's what I'm using right now and I love it almost as much as Bare Essent. I am going to try Avon's...we'll see.
Physicians formula is about 10 bucks and provides good coverage w/out feeling heavy. Try it...if you like try the BAre Essent. You will LOVE it.
I've used the Avon mineral makeup, and I liked it. The colors available left a little to be desired, but they've just added two new shades. I love that it felt like *nothing* on my skin!
i myself am a bareminerals owner (the expensive stuff) and let me tell you, it's brillant. In the past and still today, i've had a problem with my skin, and bare minerals really covers up flaws, yet makes your skin natural. You really ought to give it a try, it's worth it and if used properly can last 6 months.
I also have the expensive Bare Minerals stuff, and i personally think it's rubbish and looks really fake. I can't imagine the cheaper versions being any better!
Once again, try everyday minerals. it's great, and it's cheaper in the long run. be careful. many products let you have a kit for a reduced price, but then they make you commit to buy their stuff every two months, etc. so they get really really expensive. i love everyday minerals because you get a lot of makeup for a very good price, and you can buy more at your own pace, and any quantity you want.

Many other makeup products that you buy at the drugstore or online include parabens (which may cause cancer), allergens, or fillers (like talc), which really defeat most of the purpose of mineral makup, but Everyday Minerals contains none of these. I really noticed a positive improvement in my skin when I switched to all-natural!

Loreal would work alot better.
I've been interested in trying mineral makeup myself. You should check out makupalley.com for make-up reviews. If I remember correctly Loreal minerals had some of the worst reviews.
Since I've started using mineral make up, I won't ever go back to cream/liquid foundations. BareEcent. is the the BEST. I have also used Loreal--which wasn't so good...it's too heavy and you feel like you have a mask on. Physicians Formula mineral foundation is a good alternative...it's what I'm using right now and I love it almost as much as Bare Essent. I am going to try Avon's...we'll see.
Physicians formula is about 10 bucks and provides good coverage w/out feeling heavy. Try it...if you like try the BAre Essent. You will LOVE it.
I've used the Avon mineral makeup, and I liked it. The colors available left a little to be desired, but they've just added two new shades. I love that it felt like *nothing* on my skin!
i myself am a bareminerals owner (the expensive stuff) and let me tell you, it's brillant. In the past and still today, i've had a problem with my skin, and bare minerals really covers up flaws, yet makes your skin natural. You really ought to give it a try, it's worth it and if used properly can last 6 months.
I also have the expensive Bare Minerals stuff, and i personally think it's rubbish and looks really fake. I can't imagine the cheaper versions being any better!
Once again, try everyday minerals. it's great, and it's cheaper in the long run. be careful. many products let you have a kit for a reduced price, but then they make you commit to buy their stuff every two months, etc. so they get really really expensive. i love everyday minerals because you get a lot of makeup for a very good price, and you can buy more at your own pace, and any quantity you want.
I get mine at target, im only 13 but i use it to cover my acne its called Karma, its great mineral makeup i love it, considering im only 13 i get the cheap kind when i get older i will get more expensive kind at like the mall. lol

I wouldn't try it unless you know an expert who has told you exactly what volume of water to add. More than likely you will just end up with a foundation that does not adhere properly to your skin.
If you want a thinned-out foundation, combine it with moisturizer, not water. This will give you the moisturized, youthful look you're after. To increase the 'airbrush' effect, purchase a foundation that has a high water constituency like Maybelline Pure Makeup (50% water) or one that has an inbuilt moisturizer like Loreal Feel Natural Liquid (contains Vitamin E which softens and conditions skin).

Definitely L'Oreal. The eyeshadows, liners, everything is much better quality than Maybelline.

I saw on the Loreal website a new face powder called Bare Naturale, which says it's a mineral makeup. If you have tried it, please tell me about it- is it any good, how does it compare to something like Bare Escentuals or Amazing Cosmetics mineral makeup, and what are the ingredients?? I tried it once when I ran out of my bare escentuals and was waiting on my shipment. I didn't really care for it all that much. It is alot more Powdery than bare minerals and the coverage is pretty inferior. However if you have been blessed with pretty good skin it may work for you. If you have alot of skin problems like redness or roseacea like I do, Bare Minerals is better for you. Also I didn't get the luminous finish I get from bare minerals . I thought overall it was a waste of thirteen bucks. If Bare Minerals isn't within your price range( it is pretty expensive) than I would recommend the Physician's Formula Brand of Mineral make up. I don't recommend the drug store brands for mineral make up. Most of them have artificial fragrances and use talc as one of the fillers which can clog your pores and is very irritating on sensitive skin. Report Abuse

Yes I use Loreal and it is wonderful!. Bare minerals is great too but we are paying for the name behind it as well. Not just the makeup. I have used it for 9 months or more now and will continue to use it. Be sure you go one shade lighter for your skin tone tho. The shades run dark.

first i would suggest taking the light purple shade and adding it to the inner corner to about the middle of your lid...then apply the darker shade from the middle out to the outer part of the lid and lightly up into the crease. it's all about blending!! bad bad harsh lines! make sure you blend the two colors slightly together so the lighter shade looks as if it's blending into the darker shade, rather than looking as if they are entirely two separate shades.
then i would add a highlight color right below your brows..something shimmery, maybe a nude shade..or a subtle white would be pretty. nothing purple though.

Also, NEVER use powder foundation then liquid on top... That's just common sense. You always use liquid THEN powder.

Is cheap mineral makeup (e.g loreal) really good for your skin?
I have seen a lot of cheap mineral makeup in brands such as loreal, but on the extremely long list of ingredients you can see that it does have minerals in it but it ALSO has really bad non-mineral ingredients like talc that clogs your skin. Do you think brands like bare minerals and every day minerals are better?Is cheap mineral makeup (e.g loreal) really good for your skin?
For the most part, a heftier price tag means you can rest a little easier about the ingredients. If your skin isn't too sensitive, there's nothing wrong with L'oreal -- but Bare Minerals is a cleaner, healthier alternative.Is cheap mineral makeup (e.g loreal) really good for your skin?
This is such a massive issue all around the world and a big fight between manufacturers of ingredients, decision makers and congressional reps - ingredients that start out as ';minerals'; don't end up as minerals but still called minerals. Also, organic doesn't mean 100% organic anymore. There is no way to tell what is real and what isn't anymore, unfortunately. The only thing we have left is to compare the colors to colors found in nature - if the colors closely match, chances are you have something real, if the colors are too far away, then something in the process destroyed the efficacy of the product.
It's so ridiculous that it wouldn't be surprising how many employees are paid to search places like this for info. on how to further the exploitation to the point we see nature being covered up in commercial colors all for some legitimate reason of course, a joke now could be something serious later - that's the enomority of the manipulative language use going on to control people's perceptions of products - we can all contact congress reps at www. congress.org and tell them to make clear labeling about how things are processed and to call ingredients something else after being processed as well as labels to indicate the differences between international markets, products made for this country are different than the same company making the ';same'; products elsewhere.

It's really good! It offers surprisingly good coverage; almost as good as a basic liquid foundation. It's easy to apply, just in circular buffing motions, and it won't make you orange! Plus it will be good for your skin, because it's a mineral makeup. It won't clog your pores as much as other foundations can, so it won't give you pimples and more red splotches.

It's quite good to achieve a natural look, I used to use foundation a lot but now, especially for summer it's better to have a lighter and more natural look which I think this is great for.. it does have a good coverage for powder but for covering very visible marks you still can't beat a bit of concealer or foundation..
It's really good! It offers surprisingly good coverage; almost as good as a basic liquid foundation. It's easy to apply, just in circular buffing motions, and it won't make you orange! Plus it will be good for your skin, because it's a mineral makeup. It won't clog your pores as much as other foundations can, so it won't give you pimples and more red splotches.

I use this product in soft ivory. I would say it is neutral so your undertones do not matter.My skin is fair to light and this looks very natural.

I have combination skin which tends to get all oily after 2 hours or wearing normal liquid foundation. i have some red spots too that can sometimes be a pain to cover. im also quite pale and usually the lightest foundation is still too dark. is this product a good purchase? or would i be wasting my money? ive heard a few good things about it.

Ok I would not recommend this makeup to anyone! I bought some a few months ago, and it is the worst foundation I have ever tried. Not only was it incredibly noticable that I had makeup on, it was cakey, thick, and felt gross on my skin. I rarely have acne, and after using this I broke out, so definitly not good for someone who is acneprone since I am not and even I got them.I stick to only powder foundations now, and I really like the MAC studio fix. If has good all day coverage, doesn't look cakey, and it doesn't make me break out at all. Does the loreal true match makeup make your acne worse?

It does last 18 hours, but it makes me break out by the 10th hour so I stopped using it long ago. I don't really like to foundation because it is hard to smooth out. I tried it using a foundation brush, a sponge and my fingers. I have to say using my fingers gave me the best result.

I give a big thumbs up to I.D. Bare Minerals. Their colors actually blend to your skin tone. They are so light and clean feeling. It doesnt feel like you weigh down your face when you put it on. They have ingredients that can absorb excess oil, make your skin slightly shimmer or look dewy, tone down redness, turn up your bronze glow, or whatever YOU desire! Other brands are pre-made, so you have to buy two or more shades to get your exact colour. The one downside to Mineralogie is that it's a bit hard to find, but once you try it you'll NEVER go back to another brand!
I personaly love Loreal and sheer cover the best. bare minerals yeah its good but not that great for me but for other people may be better. it doesn't give me that great of coverage. for an affordable makeup I LOVE using Loreal its perfect for my skin gives me just the right coverage that I need and lasts all day. for a more expensive makeup I prefer sheer cover over bare minerals. sheer cover makes my face more natural looking with with the prefect coverage and my face looks smooth and flawless unlike bare minerals it makes my face look like I need makeup when I already have some on. So to make it short I recommend Loreal and sheer cover.

Have you ever been to the ORIGINS store? They custom match products to your skin, EXACTLY! It's great, and worth the money. If memory serves me correctly, I think my little bottle of origins foundation, cost me about 25$. If you cant go for that perhaps, foundation is not for you, and it would be easier for you to find a pressed powder that will match. Try something with just a hint of sparkle, perhaps an Estee Lauder product. They make a great pressed powder bronser, it's light and has a tiny bit of sparkle. You won't need to wear a whole mask of it and it looks great no matter what your complexion. I'm pasty white and able to wear it.
I have very sensitive skin, with rosacia and use to have nodular acne when using makeup until I switched to bare minerals. Feels good to be able to wear makeup again :)
I tried the neutrogena stuff and was not impressed, so I shelled out the cash and got the ';real deal'; I.D. Bare Minerals .

Jane Iredale is the best mineral makeup. I have tried everthing. They are the most expensive unfortuneately, but it's the only mineral makeup that's actually FDA approved to be pure minerals.
If I had to buy anything from them I would buy the liquid foundation and moonglow bronzer. Besides being expensive it is hard to find, but if you google ';Jane Iredale,'; a website will come up and show locations where it's available for purchase. Because it's a professional line, you can usually buy it at an upscale spa or dermatologist or plastic surgeon's office. It's very gentle and good for post-treatments so that's why they carry this line.
The Second best mineral makeup out there is Bare Minerals. This line works wonderful, but my skin was nicer and had a glow using the other foundation and bronzer. You could use the eyeshadows and blushes from this line. It stays pretty well, and is slightly less expensive than the Jane Iredale brand. An awesome product made by Bare minerals is called Rare Minerals powder. I dust this over my foundation and it makes my skin look awesome. It kinda sucks though because it cost $60 for a little bottle, but it works so good. There bronzer is VERY dark. It did not look natural on me even when i was tan.
To sum it up I am a fan of both the Jane Iredale and Bare Minerals line. Jane Iredale has a little better ingredients therefore I would purchase the skin stuff (foundation, powder, bronzer) from Jane Iredale, and the color stuff (eyeshadows, lip, and blushes) from Bare Minerals.

I personaly love Loreal and sheer cover the best. bare minerals yeah its good but not that great for me but for other people may be better. it doesn't give me that great of coverage. for an affordable makeup I LOVE using Loreal its perfect for my skin gives me just the right coverage that I need and lasts all day. for a more expensive makeup I prefer sheer cover over bare minerals. sheer cover makes my face more natural looking with with the prefect coverage and my face looks smooth and flawless unlike bare minerals it makes my face look like I need makeup when I already have some on. So to make it short I recommend Loreal and sheer cover.
Definitely Bare Minerals. Although I've never looked better - my skin has never felt better! I've tried all sorts of products, Chanel, Estee Lauder, Prescriptives, Loreal, etc and I'll never go back.

Mac or the Queen line from Cover Girl. Cover Girl has good products for all skin colors. Both of them do.
Have you ever been to the ORIGINS store? They custom match products to your skin, EXACTLY! It's great, and worth the money. If memory serves me correctly, I think my little bottle of origins foundation, cost me about 25$. If you cant go for that perhaps, foundation is not for you, and it would be easier for you to find a pressed powder that will match. Try something with just a hint of sparkle, perhaps an Estee Lauder product. They make a great pressed powder bronser, it's light and has a tiny bit of sparkle. You won't need to wear a whole mask of it and it looks great no matter what your complexion. I'm pasty white and able to wear it.
I have very sensitive skin, with rosacia and use to have nodular acne when using makeup until I switched to bare minerals. Feels good to be able to wear makeup again :)
I tried the neutrogena stuff and was not impressed, so I shelled out the cash and got the ';real deal'; I.D. Bare Minerals .

Jane Iredale is the best mineral makeup. I have tried everthing. They are the most expensive unfortuneately, but it's the only mineral makeup that's actually FDA approved to be pure minerals.
If I had to buy anything from them I would buy the liquid foundation and moonglow bronzer. Besides being expensive it is hard to find, but if you google ';Jane Iredale,'; a website will come up and show locations where it's available for purchase. Because it's a professional line, you can usually buy it at an upscale spa or dermatologist or plastic surgeon's office. It's very gentle and good for post-treatments so that's why they carry this line.
The Second best mineral makeup out there is Bare Minerals. This line works wonderful, but my skin was nicer and had a glow using the other foundation and bronzer. You could use the eyeshadows and blushes from this line. It stays pretty well, and is slightly less expensive than the Jane Iredale brand. An awesome product made by Bare minerals is called Rare Minerals powder. I dust this over my foundation and it makes my skin look awesome. It kinda sucks though because it cost $60 for a little bottle, but it works so good. There bronzer is VERY dark. It did not look natural on me even when i was tan.
To sum it up I am a fan of both the Jane Iredale and Bare Minerals line. Jane Iredale has a little better ingredients therefore I would purchase the skin stuff (foundation, powder, bronzer) from Jane Iredale, and the color stuff (eyeshadows, lip, and blushes) from Bare Minerals.

I use and LOVE L'Oreal's Infalliable. I have problem skin (oily, large pores, acne, past acne scars, dark under eyes ect). This makeup works SO well. A little goes along way and thi sis coming from someone who needs a lot of coverage. I really think you should try it. I use CoverGirl translucent podwer during the day for touch ups to the oil. It helps keep me shine free and it helps not make it cakey and the color darker because the powder is translucent. Good luck!

Revlon or Loreal makeup?!?

If you're concerned about cosmetics, you just flip to the cosmetics section of the book and they grade all the cosmetics companies from A+ to F. In your case, it rated Covergirl a C+ and L'Oreal a D. It also said that L'Oreal still performs animal testing and it is known that their products contain 2 popular carcinogens. NYC was not covered in the book, which is a product I use too.
This book covers eggs, juices, shoes, clothes, office supplies, and soooo much more. I don't know where you live, but here in Canada we have a shop called The Body Shop. I'm beginning to buy my make-up from there. They're known for their humanitarian efforts and their products are not tested on animals. I recently bought 4 eye shadows from there and it's amazing how much colour I get out of dabbing my brush a little bit on the palette.

I've used both at different times and I can't decide which to buy. Pure makeup is 50% water, but Feel Natural has a vitamin complex that is good for your skin. They look oily once your oil glands begin their daily activity. I've also found it actually accentuates the large pores on my face. I can not get near my eyes b/c it eventually makes my wrinkles there more noticeable. I went back to a cheap translucent face powder %26amp; got better results. But that's b/c I like the ';no make-up, healthy skin'; look.

I ended up buying the L'Oreal foundation a few days ago and so far have not experienced any problems with it. It makes your skin soft and makes my skin very even. It also has spf 19 and apparently doesn't cause breakouts.

hmm its a waste of my time to tell you this. Cuz you will not really care for this advice. But i will go ahead and tell u tho.
Go for Krylons derma. Its a pure professinal base/concealer. If your skin is dry then do your base this way. take a liquid make up, or use this, Revlons skin light face illuminator. choose one according to your skin color (this is what i use), now take a plastic spoon (which u use to bleach), scoop out some of the krylons concealer. Mix it with few drops of the revlons illuminator, and apply it to all your face evenly. Even out the make up, and apply some translucent powder on it. Your skin will not have a dry effect, instead it will glow.
I so know you will not listen to this, instead you will go for those maybelline and loreal type thingi. but i am sharing my real and awsome makeup tips with you. Hope u try it and see the effect yourself.

If your skin is dry then do your base this way. take a liquid make up, or use this, Revlons skin light face illuminator. choose one according to your skin color (this is what i use), now take a plastic spoon (which u use to bleach), scoop out some of the krylons concealer. Mix it with few drops of the revlons illuminator, and apply it to all your face evenly. Even out the make up, and apply some translucent powder on it. Your skin will not have a dry effect, instead it will glow.
I so know you will not listen to this, instead you will go for those maybelline and loreal type thingi. but i am sharing my real and awsome makeup tips with you. Hope u try it and see the effect yourself.
